The Uplands Farm Sanctuary (97 acres) is located in Cold Spring Harbor, NY on an old dairy farm. Although not as challenging as the Cold Spring Harbor State Park trail, this 2.5 mile triple loop offers a variety of hiking options. It has a moderate & gradual elevation to approximately 157 feet (according to ALL TRAILS). However, it is kid friendly. Unfortunately, no pets are permitted anywhere on the property, not even on leash. All trails are marked, the Daniel P. Davison Trail is a circular trail that is very wide with no obstacles and is on the outskirts of the woods. If you are looking for more challenging trails, leave the Daniel P. Davison trail and venture into the woods to take the more narrow trails that weave through the deciduous forest. There are informational signs and a kiosk that contains information regarding the area's habitat. This trail does connect to the Nassau-Suffolk Greenbelt Trail as well. You will also see several paths that lead to bird houses for the many species of birds found in this area.
You can go on the Nature Conservancy website and download a trail map, as well as learn about the rich history of this area.
