Blydenburgh County Park Stump Pond Loop is a hidden gem. It is 6.1 miles of trails that are clearly marked. The trails are sometimes narrow with exposed roots so proper hiking footwear is a must. All ages and skill levels will enjoy this hike. It took us approximately 2 hours to complete the six mile loop. Surprisingly the trail has pretty good elevation (187 ft) for Long Island but it is rarely steep. This trail is a loop as it circles the large lake in the center of this picturesque destination. The lake is the home to dozens of swans. You will also see many streams during your hike. We hiked a day after it rained and some of the flatter parts of the trail were very boggy. Dogs are allowed but must be on a leash. You may occasionally see horses on this trail as well. On weekends, this is a heavily trafficked trail.
